About

Founded by Elizabeth Lamb

Based in Omaha

Founder

Elizabeth Lamb founded Artist Agency after more than 15 years working with artists, collectors and institutions as a gallery director, strategist, administrator and collaborator. She has sat inside the systems artists are asked to navigate and knows where they are useful, where they fail and how much invisible labor it can take to make an opportunity work.

Artist Agency brings that knowledge directly to artists, not as another gatekeeper and not as someone trying to manage the creative vision. Elizabeth's role is to help artists understand the room, protect their interests, organize the work and make decisions that support both the immediate project and the career around it.

Approach

Care, with teeth

Elizabeth first found her way to community on dance floors and at sunrise sets in Eugene's early-2000s underground rave scene. In Brooklyn, that ethic grew through DIY organizing, artist-run spaces and queer and feminist performance communities committed to building different ways of working together.

Those experiences still shape the practice: direct communication, shared knowledge, resourcefulness and support that is willing to do the hard part.

Background

Experience

Before relocating to Omaha in 2024, Elizabeth served as Director of Company Gallery (2018-2024) and Callicoon Fine Arts (2014-2017) on Manhattan's Lower East Side. In those roles, she supported ambitious artist-led exhibitions, commissions, sales and institutional relationships.

Her experience also includes Recess, Pratt > Forward, the University of Oregon's White Box, artist-run collectives, publications and performance projects.

Values

Core values, made usable

Integrity

Tell the truth about the opportunity, the money, the risk and the tradeoffs, especially when the answer is inconvenient.

Stewardship

Protect the artist's time, money, relationships, creative control and long-term practice.

Analysis

Look at the whole situation before recommending the next move. Understand the visible offer and the hidden labor.

Collaboration

Build support with the artist, not around or over them. The artist remains the decision-maker.
